Through my four years with the Minnesota Writing Project (MWP) and its parent organization the National Writing Project, (NWP) my understanding of teachers as life-long-learners has been deepened tremendously.
Through my role as both a site leader and Teacher Consultant (TC), I have been fortunate to write along side hundreds of teachers, observing several teachers as they find their professional voices in ways that help them to emerge as leaders within their schools and districts.
My work as Graduate Teaching Assistant for MWP has allowed me to take up a variety of professional interests and passions. These passions include:
- Project Outreach: Recruiting and Retaining Diversity within Education
- Technology Team: Promoting digital writing and digital play among teachers both in the classroom and for personal projects
- Teacher Inquiry: Supporting teachers’ development of professional voice in order to strengthen the participation of teachers in the production of academic knowledge
Below is a video I made as part of the closing celebration for the 2009 Summer Institute.
